Maximum Traction for the Heaviest Volume
About the Combat Solid
The Brunswick Combat Solid is the most aggressive traction piece in Brunswick’s Performance Pro lineup, carrying a 96 traction rating, the highest in the line. Brunswick calls it the biggest-hooking ball it has built since the Mesmerize. It pairs the asymmetric Rampart Core with the new HK22C2 Alpha Premier Solid coverstock, which marks the return of HK22C2 technology to the Combat line, a combination built to read the lane early and keep driving through the pins.
Where a pearl or hybrid waits to make its move, the Combat Solid is meant to go to work the moment it hits the lane. The Rampart core stores the energy and the Alpha Premier Solid cover puts it on the lane as continuous, controllable hook, giving stronger players a benchmark traction ball for fresh, heavy patterns.
Understanding the Brunswick Rampart Core and Brunswick Alpha Premier Solid HK22C2 Reactive
Brunswick built the Combat Solid for heavy volume. The asymmetric Rampart core reads the mid-lane strongly and keeps its motion continuous instead of rolling out, while the HK22C2 Alpha Premier Solid cover, finished at 500, 1500 Siaair Micro Pad, grips the oil early for a strong, predictable footprint. The result is an early, traction-forward read with a smooth, hard-driving backend rather than a sharp, jumpy reaction. The full per-weight numbers are listed below.
An Asymmetric Engine Built for Early, Continuous Traction
At the heart of the Combat Solid is the asymmetric Rampart Core. At 15 lb it measures an RG of 2.502, a strong .051 differential, and a .019 intermediate differential (mass bias), numbers that produce heavy flare and an early, powerful read. The asymmetry gives the core a defined preferred spin axis, so layout has a real say in how early and how strongly the ball revs up. Brunswick wraps the Rampart core in DynamiCore, the outer-core technology that adds durability and a stronger, more responsive hit through the pins.
That combination of low RG and high differential is what makes the Combat Solid a true heavy-oil piece. It reads the mid-lane early and keeps storing energy deep into the pattern, so it drives through the pins instead of giving up at the spot. Paired with the right layout, the Rampart core delivers strong, continuous motion that higher-rev players can control.
A Premium Solid Built to Grip the Heaviest Oil
Wrapping the Rampart core is the new HK22C2 Alpha Premier Solid coverstock. Built on Brunswick’s HK22C2 base chemistry, the Alpha Premier Solid formulation is engineered for maximum oil traction, earning the Combat Solid its 96 traction rating. Finished at 500, 1500 with a Siaair Micro Pad, the surface grips early and reads the friction predictably, giving you a strong, even footprint on fresh, oily lanes.
